Global Teacher's Interview : Why Cubroid?

Personal Information:

1. Name : Katarina Mitrovic

2. Organization : MAKS Stem Club

3. Grade/Subject Taught : Pre-elementary & Elementary/STEM

4. How long have you been using the Cubroid coding kit in your teaching?

5 years (since end of 2019)

We are developing a local STEM club based in Montenegro. The team consists of tech enthusiasts that aim to affirm STEM education, collaborate with relevant institutions, organizations and professionals, teach young people programming, robotics and early development of algorithmic thinking. Our commitment is to reduce the educational gap and introduce modern educational methods that follow and implement modern methods of learning STEM knowledge and skills with a special orientation towards programming and robotics.

Cubroid coding kit has been in use for 5 years (since 2019).

The first spark was ignited in 2019 during an occasional trip from Weihai China to Incheon Airport Seoul Korea. In the meantime we were searching for some innovative and intuitive STEM sets for pre-elementary grade. Cubroid coding kit with blocks like intuitive parts &  sensors like innovative parts blended together in a quality set and package was the right choice.

First days of use were already a success.Colorful blocks were exactly suited for aimed groups and as stated before the first use was easy and intuitive.Second steps with connecting the blocks and bringing into life various projects and missions is the most creative one and STEM enriching ( productive ).

Implementing Cubroid kit into curriculums is easy and with the right mindset there are minimal limitations. After carried out offered online edu missions we was concentrated into simulating more tech and advanced tech eg. Mars Rovers...

This kind of approach of teaching is suited in order to bring the STEM to the pre-elementary and elementary grades. It makes it easier to explain tech marvels and make it more intuitive. Later on by advancing the curriculum, recalling Cubroid missions was useful for more advanced learning tech stages.

The students have shown self initiative and are interested in the use of Cubroid blocks. Minor cons from students were related to BLE connecting the blocks issues and for younger once stiffness of block during assembly. We don't find it as an issue but the time where the youngest once needed some involvement from older. Pros are a good package, quality blocks and advancement with edu material.

As already suggested a few years ago implementing "Camera Block" could be one very interesting and useful feature for new missions.Such block potentially increasing the interactive part.General tendency is toward implementing AI into curriculum. With new gear blocks, deep dive into mechanics could be implemented.

We would like to rate Cubroid blocks with excellent No.9 not because there are some major cons but just in order to support you in creating more edu material and to continue with development.

We do  recommend using Cubroid blocks because they are intuitive and innovative! ( tech+toy) .They help teachers and students to deep dive into tech surrounding us and easily explain, build and test it. Coubroid blocks translate imagination into how to read projects, how to easily start with block coding and how to advance into STEM.

One interesting project we were building was Mars Rover where we added cameras.
